Yang Lian · 杨炼

ENGLISH

Yang Lian was born in Switzerland in 1955 and grew up in Beijing. He began writing poetry in the 1970s. His work includes poetry, prose and literary criticism, with long poems and sequences central to his writing.

His books include Yi, Where the Sea Stands Still, Concentric Circles and Narrative Poem. Where the Sea Stands Still was a Poetry Book Society Recommended Translation in 1999.

杨炼于1955年出生于瑞士，在北京成长，七十年代开始写诗。他的创作包括诗歌、散文及文学批评，长诗与组诗在其中占有重要位置。

代表作包括《YI》《大海停止之处》《同心圆》《叙事诗》。1999年，英译诗集《大海停止之处》获英国诗歌书籍协会推荐。

Jan-Peter Schuring is an essayist with a particular interest in philosophy and theology, and the curator of LIUBAI. He came to philosophy in his fifties, outside the academy, after a different working life. He is the co-author of Leaving White, his first book, and lives with his wife and daughter in the Philippines.
